Escrima Concepts is the main weapons program taught at UCT International, as part of the ACE (Armed Combat Essentials) program, to effectively respond to attacks with cutting or striking weapons. Unfortunately, there are more and more cases where innocent people on the street have to deal with armed attackers. Besides the fact that there is an increase in aggression on the streets across the board, more and more people are reaching for weapons. It is therefore wise to learn at least the basics of fighting with weapons.
At AMOK, people are trained in the pre conflict, conflict and post effect of conflict on the street or other known sites of conflict. AMOK is not a martial art and is not affiliated with any specific organizations. In AMOK, no ties and titles are given to practitioners. Therefore, the AMOK method is easily adopted by other martial arts.
AMOK is quite unique in its approach to street fighting, no fancy dance moves but only training what is most effective within realistic situations.
Besides the important aspect of knowing how to deal with an attacker who has a cutting weapon, how to effectively handle a cutting weapon yourself is certainly important within AMOK. Especially against multiple opponents or armed opponents, your own knife fighting skill is extremely important and could possibly mean the difference between dying, being severely injured or surviving.
