UCT Academy Supports 20th Anniversary Celebration in Cambridge
Last Saturday, three instructors from UCT Academy travelled to Cambridge to support and celebrate the 20th anniversary of a long-standing martial arts school and valued friends within the martial arts community.
Together with Escrima Concepts instructor Peter de Vries and Wing Chun instructor Anton Offermans, Sifu Benno Waimade the early morning journey to England to contribute to this special milestone event.
For the past twenty years, the Cambridge Kung Fu School has been successfully led by its founders, Ross Sargent and Col Maggs. Through their dedication, passion, and commitment to quality martial arts instruction, they have built a respected school and a thriving martial arts community.
Throughout the day, a variety of workshops were presented, allowing practitioners from different backgrounds and disciplines to come together, exchange knowledge, and share their passion for martial arts. Events like these highlight the value of international friendships, mutual respect, and lifelong learning within our community.
It was also a pleasure to reconnect with Steve Tappin, founder of Escrima Concepts and a friend of more than twenty years. Long-lasting friendships such as these are among the most rewarding aspects of a lifetime spent in the martial arts.
Building a school, a community, and a legacy of knowledge over two decades is an achievement worthy of great respect. We are grateful to have been part of this celebration and would like to congratulate Ross, Col, and everyone at the Cambridge Kung Fu School on reaching this remarkable milestone.
Here’s to the next twenty years of training, growth, friendship, and preserving the traditions and values of the martial arts.
